Issue Types
Every entry that can appear in the issues list, what it means and what to do.
Track
| Issue | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Unconnected endpoint | Nothing is joined to this end of a piece. | Expected at the end of a siding or headshunt. If the run was meant to continue, join the next piece. |
| Misaligned connection | Two ends are close together but do not line up well enough to be a joint. | Move one piece towards the other and let it snap, or use precise placement. |
| Overlapping track | Two pieces occupy the same space without being a designed crossing. | Move one, or use a crossing piece. |
| Below minimum radius | A curve is tighter than the layout's minimum radius. | Use a wider curve, or change the minimum if your stock can manage it. See Minimum radius. |
| Invalid geometry | A piece or flexible run has a shape that cannot be built, such as a run of no length. | Delete and redraw it. |
Compatibility
| Issue | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed scales | The layout contains track from more than one scale. | Replace the odd pieces, or turn on Allow track from other scales if it is intended. |
| Joined across track systems | Two pieces from different track systems are joined. | Often fine. Check whether that combination needs transition joiners. |
| Missing track library | Track refers to a library that is not installed on this Mac or embedded in the layout. | Import the library. See Libraries and layouts. |
Scenery
| Issue | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Scenery in the way of track | Track runs through an object that stands on the ground. | Move one of them. If track is meant to pass under or through, set the object's Ground to Spans over it. |
| Overlapping scenery | Two objects share the same ground. | Move one. Buildings can never overlap. |
| Scenery sized for another scale | Objects were placed when the layout was a different scale. | Delete and replace them to resize, or leave them if the size is what you want. |
Boards and room
| Issue | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Outside the baseboard | Track or scenery extends beyond a board, into a cutout or across a gap between sections. | Move it, or change the board. |
| Outside the room | A board extends beyond the room boundary. | Move or resize the board, or correct the room. |
| Fixed obstacle conflict | A board touches a fixed obstacle. | Move the board, or add a cutout around the obstacle. |
| Door swing conflict | A wall, board or obstacle is in the way of a door. | Move the board or change the door. |
| Aisle clearance conflict | A wall, board or obstacle intrudes on an aisle. | Move the board, or narrow or move the aisle. |
| Reach planning | Part of the board is beyond reach from the edges you can approach. | See Reach Zones. |
